Who We Are

Expressive art therapy is a mental health profession that uses traditional psychology with the combination of making art. Art making is used as a means of self-expression, containment, mindfulness and communication. We work with all clients of all ages and meet with individuals, groups, couples and families, and communities.

Expressive art therapy develops a therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client. This relationship works to identify and reach personal or relational goals. Common goals are to reduce symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, trauma and grief. Improve cognitive and motor functioning. Enhance social skills, improve communication between family members, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and explore feelings and enhance emotional resilience.

Art helps those who tend to think visually, it can also allow individuals to express their feelings good or bad in a safe space. Expressive art also acts as a bridge between the client and the therapist. Expressive art therapy can be less threatening and more engaging than traditional talk therapy. We are here to offer this alternative to traditional talk therapy.

Healing arts also offers crafting classes, art journaling, and a safe place to create.
